Over the weekend of 13th—15th July 2007, a festival of arts, crafts and music was held at St James’.  The theme was The Water of Life and the church and hall were filled with wonderful exhibits from local schools, church and community groups and individuals, who all contributed to a diverse and varied display of work including paintings, textiles including tapestry and quilting, sculpture, photographs and parchment craft.

The pillars were adorned with a colourful “catch” of fish and sea creatures, and there were many beautiful flower arrangements throughout the church.  Refreshments were available throughout the festival, and the cream teas were particularly popular.

The Festival closed on Sunday evening with a Songs of Praise service, with favourite hymns voted for by the congregation.

More than 400 people visited the church over the course of the weekend, and over £300 was raised towards the work of the church in our parish.  A huge thank you goes out to all who supported the Festival, both contributors and visitors alike.

Musical events formed a large part of the Festival, with concerts and recitals being held on each day, including a concert by two of our local schools, Poetry and Prose with Piano, an informal Musical Review and an organ recital by our musical director, Martin Hall.
